To ensure safety, the electric vehicles soon to operate in the center of Ho Chi Minh City will have doors, tempered glass windows, and passenger seats equipped with seat belts.
The Saigon Public Transport Company Limited is expected to officially launch this type of electric tourist service from April 12th.
According to the company, there will be 70 electric vehicles operating from 6 am to 12 am daily. The trial period is planned for 2 years from the second quarter of 2024 to the end of 2025.
Drivers will wear traditional áo bà ba uniforms and receive training in communication skills as well as basic knowledge to introduce tourists. They must hold a driver's license from category B2 or higher.
The vehicles are manufactured in Vietnam, with battery technology meeting American standards, German engines, and Toyota ECU controllers. The cost of these vehicles is double that of regular electric cars. To ensure safety, the vehicles are equipped with doors, tempered glass windows, and passenger seats with seat belts.
